little things

Late last year, at a social get-together, the Dala Artists Group thought it was time for another exhibition.

We decided to hold it here at ‘grakay pottery and gallery’ and to invite some artist friends to exhibit some of their work.

I am very excited about this exhibition. It will feature all new work from Di Collier, Ros Woodward, Jacky Lowry, Michaela Stephens, Shelley Bedford, myself and invited artists Susie Foster and Sandra Ferguson.

Each piece is limited to 20 cm x 25 cm – works don’t have to be square or rectangular, they may be any size or shape within these dimensions, and they may be 2D or 3D.

The exhibition will open from 10 am to 4 pm for the first three days – 3, 4 & 5 July – and then from 11 am to 4 pm each day from 6 to 12 July 2015.

Saturday 4 July will feature complimentary refreshments, cob-oven pizza, BBQ, nibbles, tea & coffee – from 12 noon until 4 pm. There will be no entry charge.

Grahame and Kaye will donate a prize for a raffle – proceeds to be donated to Conondale State School – which will be held and drawn on Saturday 4 July.

Please tell all your friends – everyone is invited to come along and see the wealth of talent in our area!

Below are thumbnail samples of what you can expect to see at the show.

In August 2013 the local Dala artists’ group held an exhibition of their work at a member’s studio.

Eight artists participated and a good time was had by all (helped along by the mulled wine)!

There were a moderate amount of visitors, good sales and very positive feedback.

I would like to share some photos, taken by visitors, with you.

open studio ceramics australia showcase

Saturday 17 August & Sunday 18 August 2013, 10 am – 4 pm

I am very excited and proud to have been invited to participate in the very first OSCAS – Open Studio Ceramics Australia Showcase.

Organised by The Australian Ceramics Association (TACA), the weekend promises to be full of clay, creativity and fun! Potters far and wide will open their studios and welcome visitors into the special places where they create their masterpieces.

you are invited to visit grakay

I would like to invite you to visit my studio (workshop & gallery) during the weekend of 17 & 18 August – I will have new work on display and you will get to watch me packing the beast ready for firing!

I will also have fresh clay available for anyone who would like to get their hands dirty making their very own piece of pottery.

The OSCAS is a nation-wide celebration of ceramic studio artists, featuring more than 100 TACA members – potters from all over Australia.

The map below shows the 11 potters across South-East Queensland (including grakay) who are opening their studios. The 5 studios with a dark-blue marker are located in the Sunshine Coast region. Click on each individual marker for more information about the studios. Edited: interactive map replaced with JPG for posterity.
